Austrian Research Centers Modern research is an interdisciplinary, networked approach not confined to one specific system. In this way we achieve results that prevail in the market and provide maximum benefit for the public. The success of Austrian Research Centers is based on a staff of 800 who have made us Austria's largest applied research centre.

Systems Research Division The design of socio-economic and natural systems is one of the most important tasks of the government and the economy. The analysis of the complex and intricate dynamics associated with this task is the focus of activities of the Systems Research Division. Interventions in complex systems requires braintrust input from all disciplines. The multidisciplinary team consists of 35 experts from the economic and social sciences, the natural sciences and the formal sciences. This group of experts works in close cooperation with the customers, the institutions of the Austrian innovation system as well as with the residents of the country who are affected by the respective topic.

Environmental Planning Department The ARC Environmental Planning Department as part of the Systems Research Division is engaged in conceptual environmental research and has a permanent staff of 12, with background in biology, ecology, chemistry, meteorology, remote sensing and regional planning. Know-how transfer is facilitated by the close co-operation maintained with universities. Four members of the Department are lecturers at Austrian universities, five act as invited experts in international panels.
